Verse menu

Tap a verse number in the Bible text to open the verse action menu. It is anchored near the verse and lists actions for that verse. Bookmark state is reflected in the bookmark item (add vs remove).

The menu uses the system popup style and stays within the screen. If the verse is near an edge, the menu may shift position automatically.

  • Use a firm tap on the verse number; if nothing opens, try again without dragging (to avoid text selection).
Tablet and desktop

With a mouse or trackpad, a single click on the verse number is enough. The menu behaves like other Material popup menus.

  • In multi-panel layouts, the menu is tied to the panel where you tapped.

Menu items (in order)

  1. My verse notes — open the note editor for that verse (personal verse notes).
  2. Manage verse tags — assign or remove tags for this verse; create or edit tag names and colors in the same flow (details in Verse tags).
  3. Add bookmark / Remove bookmark — toggles the bookmark for this verse (label depends on current state).
  4. Copy to clipboard — copies the verse text for use in other apps.
  5. Divider
  6. Compare — opens comparison for this verse using your compare/parallel Bible configuration.
  7. Divider
  8. Highlight — highlights the entire verse and opens the highlight style picker (color/style). See Highlighting verses for verse vs selection highlighting.

What the verse menu does not replace

To highlight only part of a verse, or to use copy/highlight from a text selection, use text selection in the Bible web view (drag handles, then the floating toolbar). That path is described under Highlighting verses.
