Cloud sync
Keep your data synchronized across devices using Google Drive. The sync dialog is titled Cloud Synchronization.
On phones and narrow screens, cloud sync is usually opened from the overflow menu (⋮) and appears as a full-width dialog/sheet.
- Google sign-in and Drive permission prompts always use system UI.
- Recent activity entries may require more scrolling on small screens.
On tablet and desktop, cloud sync is often available directly from the toolbar and opens as a centered dialog with more room for status and recent activity.
- The same controls exist; the layout simply shows more at once.
- Recent Activity can display more rows before scrolling.

- Highlights
- Locations
- Notes (TheWord notes)
- Bookmarks
Sync conflicts are handled automatically during merge.
Enable cloud sync
Turn on Enable Cloud Sync to start syncing. When enabled, the app performs an initial sync.
- If cloud sync is off, the Merge & Sync Now button is disabled.
- Sync requires linking a Google account (Google Drive).
Link (or unlink) Google Drive
- Tap Link Google Account to sign in. If sign-in fails or is cancelled, the app shows: “Sign in failed or canceled. Check your connection or Google configuration.”
- When connected, the row shows Connected to Google Drive and a sign-out button.
- Signing out prompts confirmation: “Are you sure you want to sign out from Google? This will disconnect your account and stop cloud synchronization.”
Sync status and activity
The dialog displays the following status values:
- Device (device ID)
- Last Sync (or Never)
- Last Checked (or Never)
The Recent Activity section lists sync runs with timestamps and a success/failure indicator. Entries may show affected files and per-category stats (pushed/received).
- Failed entries show a FAILED badge and may include an error message.
- Use Clear to clear the sync history list.
Merge & Sync Now
Tap Merge & Sync Now to force a sync immediately. While syncing, the button shows a loading indicator.
