Reading and navigation

This page covers moving through text in a panel—history and bookmarks, the verse popup, and Strong’s / morphology popups. It pairs with Panels and tabs (toolbar) and Verse menu (per-verse actions).

Phone

The end drawer slides over the panel. It has two segments: History and Bookmarks. On phones it often covers most of the screen.

Tablet and desktop

On larger layouts the drawer can show longer history lines and bookmark lists side by side with more context. Keyboard focus and mouse hover behave like other Material side sheets.

Bookmarks

Bible verses

  • Add or remove — use the verse menu (tap the verse number) and choose Add bookmark / Remove bookmark .
  • In the text — bookmarked verses can be highlighted in the chapter (module-dependent); the app refreshes indicators when bookmarks change.
  • History drawer — open History from the panel toolbar, then switch to the Bookmarks tab to see saved verse references with readable titles.

Commentary, Dictionary, and Book tabs

  • Bookmark ribbon — a ribbon control appears at the top-right of the content area. Tap to toggle a topic bookmark for the current article/topic and module.
  • Long-press the ribbon to jump straight to the Bookmarks tab of the history drawer (same as opening the drawer on the bookmarks segment).

Search tab

The drawer lists search history only; there is no separate search bookmark list.

History drawer (two tabs)

History
Shows recent places for the active content type: verse locations (Bible), commentary positions, dictionary topics, search queries (with scope summary), etc. Tap a row to restore that context. You can clear all history for the current type from the drawer where provided.
Bookmarks
Lists saved bookmarks for that tab: verse refs (Bible/Commentary), topic names with module names (dictionary/book), or empty for Search. Select a row to open it.

Verse popup (reference preview)

Opened when you follow a Bible or cross-reference link that targets a verse (from footnotes, links in dictionaries, cross-ref UI, etc.). A smaller hover variant is used for quick previews; the full dialog has the controls below.

Control Role
Bible translation Dropdown to pick which installed Bible module the popup uses; your choice is remembered as the popup Bible default.
/ Verse vs chapter Toggles between a single verse and the whole chapter (for cross-ref mode, may offer a chapter picker when several targets exist).
Copy Copies the visible HTML body text to the clipboard.
Close Dismisses the dialog. If you activated a link that returns a verse ref, the main panel can navigate to that passage.
Zoom Footer zoom controls scale the web content; the zoom level is saved for popups.

Links inside the popup — tapping Bible / cross-ref links either updates the popup or returns a reference to the main Bible panel, depending on context (full dialog vs hover).

Strong’s popup

Shown when you tap a Strong’s number (Hebrew H… / Greek G…) in the Bible text, unless the app is configured to send Strong’s lookups straight to a dictionary panel (see below).

Control Role
Back Appears when you have moved to another entry from a link inside the article; returns to the previous Strong’s / morph entry in the chain.
Search Starts a corpus search focused on this Strong’s key (closes the popup and passes the key to search).
Dictionary If more than one Strong’s-capable dictionary is installed, pick which lexicon to use; Greek vs Hebrew defaults are remembered separately.
Copy Copies the definition text.
Close Closes the popup.
Open in Dictionary tab Footer button: opens this entry in a full dictionary panel when layout allows.
Zoom Footer zoom; uses the same saved popup zoom as the verse popup.

Inside the article — links to other Strong’s / morphology entries drill in (back stack). Links to Bible verses can open a verse popup. On desktop, hovering a link can show a preview tooltip for verse or Strong/morph targets before you commit to a tap.

Morphology popup

Uses the same window layout as Strong’s but loads morphology dictionaries (tags such as <WT> in module data). The header title shows the morph code; the dictionary dropdown lists only morph-capable modules.

  • Same Copy, Search, Zoom, Open in Dictionary tab, embedded verse links, and hover previews as the Strong’s popup.
  • Defaults for which morph lexicon to use are saved from the wizard / defaults screen.

Strong’s: popup vs dictionary panel

In Defaults (and the non–first-launch wizard), Strong number interaction chooses what a tap does:

  • Show popup — always use the Strong/morph dialog described above.
  • Open in dictionary tab — jump to the configured Hebrew or Greek Strong’s dictionary in a panel that is set to link dictionaries (when a matching topic exists).

The app forces popup mode when you use a single-panel layout or a maximized panel, so Strong’s and morph lookups stay on top instead of targeting a hidden dictionary panel.
